The after hours GP service in Geraldton is possible thanks to State Government funding.

"(...)The program gives families and people in need greater flexibility when visiting a doctor,” Health Minister Kim Hames said in a media statement. “(The funding) means people living in regional areas can also enjoy improved access to GP services.”

Mr Hames: “Many people who visit emergency departments do not need to be admitted to hospital and can receive appropriate care from a general practitioner.

Decreasing the number of these presentations to emergency departments means that EDs can focus on caring for people who most need to be there. Extending GP services means that more people can find the type of care that best meets their needs at a time that suits them.”
